The Social Services Committee of Rukungiri Municipality conducted a comprehensive monitoring exercise to assess the implementation of various projects funded for the financial year 2024/2025.

The initiative focuses on three key programs: the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP), the Persons with Disabilities Special Grant (PWDS), and the Support to Enterprise Government Programme (SEGOP).

Led by Deputy Town Clerk Ampaire Justus and Principal Community Development Officer Mr. Twesigomwe John Bosco, the monitoring team visited 13 funded projects across the municipality.

Their first stop was the Kagashe Produce Dealers Project in the Eastern Division, followed by the Kyarugamba Women’s Second-Hand Clothes Project, and finally the Katwekamwe PWDS Goat Rearing Project located in Rwentondo Ward.

During the exercise, Tushabomwe Emily, Chairperson of the PWDS group, expressed her gratitude to the monitoring team for their ongoing support.

She highlighted that her group received UGX 5,050,000 in 2024, which was utilized to purchase goats and construct shelters for them. “Inability is not disability,” she affirmed, emphasizing the group’s commitment to hard work and resilience.

Twesigomwe John Bosco commended the Katwekamwe PWDS Goat Rearing Project for their collective efforts, advising members to mark their goats clearly for effective identification and record-keeping. He praised their initiative as a model for other groups.

Kiijukuru Vianny, Chairperson of the Social Services Committee, echoed these sentiments, thanking the government for the funds and the groups for their efficient use of resources.

He urged all funded groups to manage their finances prudently, particularly those not yet monitored, as future assessments are planned for various community initiatives, including youth and elderly programs.
