The Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa has challenged people to shun commercialization of politics ahead of elections. With less than two Months to National Resistance Movement (NRM) party elections, Rutahigwa said that several contenders have already started paying costs to achieve their political goals.
He revealed this yesterday while giving the public access to Marumba land in Southern Division Rukungiri Municipality which he hired from scouts. The land was previously occupied by locals, but later on, the leadership of Rukungiri district scouts decided to hire it to the community members.
Since then, locals who used to congregate on the land for physical exercises and social events were denied access. However, after the contract with the person who had been using it expired, the Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa decided to rent it and offered to his people for free use. It should be noted that it is mostly used by members of local saving groups to gather and save their money as well as the youths for football.
