Schools across the region have been encouraged to intensify their efforts in scouting activities to foster development in Uganda. This call was made today by Akankwasa Enoth Kayanda, the Rukungiri District Scouting Commissioner.
Kayanda highlighted the recent three-day scouting camp competition held at Marumba Playground from July 3 to July 6. Many schools participated, providing students with essential skills in scouting as well as practical skills such as soap and jelly making.
In addition, Kayanda urged scouts to initiate influential projects that could generate income for their families. He announced that scouts would participate in the National Scouting Camp Competitions in Kazi, Kampala, scheduled for August.
He expressed gratitude to the schools that sent learners to engage in scouting activities and to the Rukungiri members of Parliament for facilitating the event.
Byaruhanga Charles Katambura, the Rukungiri District Assistant Scouting Commissioner, also thanked head teachers for supporting students’ participation in the camp. He encouraged people in various communities to embrace scouting as a pathway to achieving more.
One of the attendees, Abaho Rodgers, expressed gratitude to the scouting officials for organizing the camp. He shared his experiences, stating that he gained valuable skills in soap and jelly making, as well as building techniques.
He encouraged youth to engage in scouting, highlighting its potential to secure their futures through the skills acquired.
