Rukungiri District Pays Tribute to Late Hon. Ndazaarwe Francis

The Rukungiri District Local Government held a poignant meeting today to pay tribute to the late Hon. Ndazaarwe Francis, a revered councilor who dedicated his life to serving the elderly and advancing community development in the district. Hon. Ndazaarwe, who passed away leaving 12 children at the age of 74 due to cancer, was known for his integrity, hard work, and commitment to his constituents. His final send-off is scheduled for tomorrow, October 19, at his home in Rusheshe Buhunga Sub County.

The gathering took place at the district council hall, where members of the local government and community leaders shared their condolences and memories of the late councilor. Hon. Musiimenta Cledonia Clare, a female councilor representing workers and secretary for the social services committee, delivered a heartfelt message, emphasizing Hon. Ndazaarwe’s dedication to public service saying that he was a devoted leader who served with humility and passion for community development as she extended sympathies to his family and constituents.

Among those present was Sister Mille Mirembe, a councilor representing elderly persons, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss. “We have lost a strong voice in the council,” she stated, noting that Hon. Ndazaarwe had mentored many young leaders in the district. Fellow councilors, including Albert Mugisha and Byarugaba Micheal, echoed these sentiments, highlighting his commitment to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and his exemplary time management skills, smartness, corruption free, among others.

Ingrid Turinawe, the PFF flag bearer for Rukungiri Municipality, along with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and District Police Commander (DPC), also conveyed their condolences, acknowledging Hon. Ndazaarwe’s pivotal role in the district’s development.

Kazoora Samuel, one of 12 Hon. Ndazaarwe’s children, expressed gratitude for the support his father received during his illness. “We thank God for allowing him to live with cancer for 6.5 years,” he said, appreciating the calm conditions provided by the Rukungiri district local government.

Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Chairperson LC 5 of Rukungiri District, reflected on the contributions of Hon. Ndazaarwe, stating, “Rukungiri has lost a hero.” He announced a tribute of UGX 500,000 to assist the family with burial preparations, urging them to remain united in preserving their father’s legacy.

The meeting concluded with shared memories and a collective commitment to honor the late councilor’s contributions to the community he loved dearly.
