Kigezi Police puzzled with murders in Kanungu & Rukiga

The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 50yrs old Turyashemererwa Esau a resident of Rutoro cell Rutugunda parish Kirima sub county, Kanungu district.

It’s alleged that, the deceased has been a business man dealing in cattle and had a shop/bar near his home being operated by his wife Asiimwe Annette.

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman told the press that, last night at around 11pm, the deceased requested for a bottle of waragi from his bar but the wife refused, which annoyed him, then he picked a stone and hit his wife on the head.

It’s after which, that the neighbour one Sunday Eric heard an alarm from the deceased’s home and went to see what was happening. Upon arrival, Sunday found the deceased lying in the living room unconscious with blood oozing from the mouth. He mobilized transport to take the patient to the hospital, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Katate health centre IV.

Maate notes the scene was visited, processed and documented, postmortem was done as the wife and their daughter were arrested to assist in investigations.

Relatedly, the police in Rukiga are investigating circumstances under which a 62 year old Medius Kendegye, was allegedly murdered by unknown people at an unknown time last night from her home at Kamuha village Kibanda parish Kamwezi sub county.

She was attacked after breaking the door open, pulled her from the bed murdered her by cutting her several times on the head using a panga. 

Officers from Kamwezi police station responded very fast, visited the scene with assistance of Canine unit from Kabale police station, they tracked for possible suspects, leading to the home of Byamukama Simon Peter who was then traced together with two others and were arrested to help in investigation.
