In a heartfelt ceremony today, Immaculate Heart Girls School in Nyakibare, Rukungiri Municipality, hosted a dedication mass for its S6 students as they prepare for the upcoming UACE exams. A total of 356 students were officially dedicated to God, seeking His guidance and blessings for success in their final examinations beginning tomorrow.

The mass was led by Fr. Innocent Young Buregyeya, the parish priest of Rushoroza Parish in Kihihi. In his inspiring sermon, he urged the students to view their bodies as temples of God emphasizing that as they leave Immaculate Heart, should remember to embody the teachings of Christ in your daily lives. Fr. Buregyeya also highlighted the importance of discipline, encouraging students to uphold the school’s esteemed reputation as they enter the broader world. He concluded his message with prayers for their success, wishing them to pass their exams with flying colors.

Sister Sabina Tusiime, the headteacher, echoed Fr. Buregyeya’s sentiments, stressing that dedication is not just a phrase but a lifelong commitment to being God’s children. She called on the students to maintain their integrity as they transition to university life, noting, “You must show the world that there is another way of living.” Sister Sabina encouraged the students to honor the teachings and values instilled in them during their time at Immaculate Heart, urging them not to betray the trust placed in them by their teachers and peers.

In a poignant address, Atuhaire Dian, the former head girl, and Kemigisha Annet, the former chairperson of the school council, expressed their gratitude to the school administration and teachers for their unwavering support. “You have transformed us from empty tins into fully packed tins,” they said, reflecting on the support received since joining the school in 2019. They also recognized the contributions of fellow students and non-teaching staff, including cooks and security personnel, for creating a nurturing environment.

As the students prepare for their exams, they reminded their peers of the importance of discipline and unity urging that as they step into this battlefield to carry the dignity of Immaculate Heart in their hearts. They emphasized the need to be role models, embodying prayerfulness and a God-fearing spirit, stressing that they should not be public sockets as they strive to shine brightly in the world and for eternity.

The dedication mass marked a significant milestone in the students’ academic journey, reinforcing their commitment to excellence and faith as they face the challenges ahead.
