The District Education Officer, Turyahumura Jackson, emphasized the crucial role parents play in instilling good morals in their children. He urged parents to prioritize moral education to nurture future leaders.

Speaking to attendees during the Annual General Meeting at Rukungiri Technical Institute Kyamakanda, Turyahumura stressed that parents must serve as role models by avoiding bad habits such as alcoholism, sexual abuse, and smoking. He highlighted the importance of regular communication and visits to educational institutions, which helps parents stay informed about their children’s progress.

Jackson also addressed students directly, encouraging them to maintain discipline and resist negative influences like addiction and unhealthy relationships. He called for cooperation among parents, students, and teachers to foster a supportive educational environment.

The Principal of Rukungiri Technical Institute, Asiimwe Ronald Jack, expressed his gratitude to parents and guests for their participation, noting that their involvement reflects a commitment to the institution’s success. He highlighted the meeting’s focus on engaging parents in their children’s educational journey, including attendance, performance, and financial accountability.

Asiimwe shared that the institute currently has 474 students—346 males and 128 females—who are demonstrating improved discipline and academic performance. He emphasized the need for parental support in fundraising initiatives aimed at enhancing educational standards and developing the institution further. He urged parents to pay tuition fees promptly and avoid giving money directly to their children to prevent mismanagement.

Parents like Yusufu Tumwijukye and Twemare Resper voiced their concerns regarding the need for financial contributions to support the institute’s development. They supported the administration’s initiatives, expressing that such efforts would elevate the institution’s status.

Moreover, they encouraged students to embrace technical skills, which can lead to self-sustaining businesses post-graduation. They also stressed the importance of timely fee payments, noting that delays often result in poor academic performance, ultimately jeopardizing students’ futures.
