Residents of Ryarugambwa cell in Rukungiri District have been encouraged to actively engage in the renovation of their local infrastructure to ensure a reliable network in their area.

This call to action was made by Mugisha Benon, Chairperson of LCIII Buhunga sub-county, during his recent inspection of road rehabilitation efforts from Karisizo to Rwemburara, which also connects to Omukatojo cell.

Benon emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that all villages must participate in infrastructure projects rather than waiting for government intervention. He expressed gratitude to the residents of Ryarugambwa for their dedication to maintaining their roads.

He also urged farmers to avoid disrupting roadways during agricultural activities, as such actions can hinder transportation and overall community development. “Protecting our infrastructure is essential for the growth of our communities,” he remarked.

Kusingura Ivan, Chairperson of LC I in Ryarugambwa cell, echoed Benon’s sentiments, thanking residents for their commitment to infrastructure rehabilitation. He highlighted the need for farmers to respect property boundaries and avoid encroaching on roadways, a practice he noted has been prevalent in the village.

Ivan stressed the importance of maintaining the roads that have been renovated, urging community members to collaborate in their upkeep.

Residents, including Ephraim Mutabaazi and Kamwaka Misach, expressed their appreciation for the collaborative efforts with local leaders in road rehabilitation. They voiced concerns over the actions of some farmers who have damaged the roads, emphasizing the necessity of protecting their infrastructure for better connectivity in the community.

The community’s proactive approach to infrastructure maintenance is seen as a vital step towards ensuring sustainable development and improved transport networks for all residents.
