The Minister for Security also the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has urged Christians to seek both spiritual and physical needs for fulfilling sustainable and productive life.
Hon. Jim Muhwezi made the call today Thursday 25th December 2025 while addressing Christians at Kasoroza Church of Uganda, his home church in Nyakagyeme Sub County Rukungiri district during Christmas prayers.
In his message, Jim Muhwezi said that Christians should not only seek spiritual needs which are satisfied through prayers, praise, and worship, but also strive to have household money to enable them to meet essential needs.
His remarks followed concerns expressed by Ven. Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, regarding the nation’s rising alcohol consumption and its impact on the populace.
Ven. Ronald Natuhwera called for urgent action within communities to address the harmful effects of alcohol abuse.
Commenting on the issue, Hon. Jim Muhwezi commended Ven. Rev. Ronald Natuhwera for encouraging believers to work towards achieving decent and better standards of living.
Hon. Jim Muhwezi added by urging Ugandans to protect the peace and stability that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government has built over the past four decades, warning that losing it would undermine the progress and prosperity the country has achieved.
He said that this peace has provided the foundation for strong state institutions, including the army, police, all grounded in professionalism and patriotism.
Can. Suzan Muhwezi, wife to Minister Jim Muhwezi who accompanied him with the family implored Christians to always return thanks to God in an attempt to attract blessings from him.
Can. Suzan says that most people tend to forget to return thanks to God after becoming successful in life, a practice she adds that does not please God.
She explains that giving back to God does not mean having material wealth but surrendering their lives to the Almighty God and working for him for their blessings to be multiplied.
On this, Canon Suzan said that she has already contributed 50M shillings towards the construction of Kasoroza Church of Uganda.
In his sermon, Ven. Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, Archdeacon Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry urged Christians to always be strong and have faith in God despite earthly temptations for life everlasting.
