In a robust effort to mobilize support ahead of the upcoming general elections, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has launched a comprehensive door-to-door campaign across twelve districts in the Kigezi and South Western regions of Uganda. The initiative was inaugurated by Senior Presidential Advisor Peace Rugambwa at Palm Royal Hotel in Rukungiri municipality, attracting a large gathering of enthusiastic supporters from various parts of Western Uganda.
The campaign is geared towards ensuring that the voices of all NRM supporters are heard and registered, particularly vulnerable groups such as individuals with disabilities and those unable to travel. Agaba Gerald Katoohire, the Chairperson Mobilizer for Isingiro District, articulated that the door-to-door approach would facilitate grassroots engagement, enabling “foot soldiers” to visit each village and connect directly with constituents. This strategy aims to secure a 100% victory for the NRM party in the forthcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of leaving no supporter behind.
Katoohire urged those involved in the mobilization efforts to act with urgency, given the limited time before the elections. He also called on well-wishers to contribute to the initiative for the greater good of the party. The commitment shown by local leaders signifies a collective drive to enhance the NRM’s dominance in the region.

Hon. Mwesigwa Mathias Rwabugumi, the NRM flag bearer for Rubabo County, expressed his gratitude to the party’s leadership for this innovative mobilization strategy. He emphasized that the campaign not only helps identify potential voters but also reinforces the NRM’s grassroots structures. Rwabugumi expressed confidence that with this support, no NRM flag would be lost in Rukungiri.

Additionally, Hon. Merry Paula Turyahikayo, the NRM flag bearer for Woman MP in Rukungiri District, and LC 5 Chairperson Andruson Katebire spoke highly of the initiative’s potential to boost morale among flag bearers. They extended their appreciation to President Museveni for entrusting Peace Rugambwa with this pivotal role.
Gen. Henry Tumukunde, the NRM flag bearer for Rukungiri municipality, echoed support for the initiative. He noted the critical importance of mobilization and warned against complacency, highlighting that electoral outcomes can change rapidly. He further encouraged independent candidates to consider aligning with the NRM, emphasizing that the party provides ample opportunities for all.
