Youths Urged to Commit to NRM During Rukungiri Meeting

In a significant gathering held at Rukungiri Inn Hotel, the acting Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukungiri District, Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, addressed local youth leaders, urging them to remain steadfast in their support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM). This meeting, which took place on August 4, coincided with preparations for the upcoming NRM youth elections.

Ongom expressed gratitude to the youth for their active participation in the party’s electoral processes. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the NRM as a vital solution to the challenges faced by the community.

“The youth have come to understand the truth about the NRM,” he stated, adding that while the party has made strides in addressing local issues, misinformation from opposing politicians persists.

Highlighting the need for patience in achieving progress, Ongom reminded the attendees that “even Rome was not built in a day.” He encouraged the youth to remain committed to the NRM, assuring them that the party is dedicated to resolving their challenges methodically. Tugumenawe Brian, Chairperson of the NRM Youth League in Rukungiri municipality, also spoke during the meeting, reflecting on a noticeable shift among the youth.

He noted that many who previously aligned with opposition parties are now rallying behind President Museveni and the NRM. Brian called for greater unity among youth to ensure a brighter future for Rukungiri.

Youth representatives, including aspiring councilors Muhangi Junior Kafuniza and Niwensima Innocent, voiced frustration over their limited access to government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM).

They attributed this issue to leadership from opposition parties, which they believe hinders their opportunities. They urged their peers to vote for leaders who can effectively connect them with key figures in the NRM.
