BUSHENYI– The Police in Bushenyi District have mounted investigations to establish the cause of death of a 48-year-old woman, Enid Natukunda.

Natukunda according to reports was found dead at her home in Nyabutobo cell, Rwentuha Town Council, Bushenyi District, after a suspected Monday night attack.

The gruesome discovery was made on Tuesday when residents noticed a large stone outside Natukunda’s house and bloodstained blankets in a nearby banana plantation around 9am.

According to Fenekansi Kataryeba, the area village Chairperson, the incident occurred at night, but details only emerged in the morning.

Naboth Nabasa, Mayor of Rwentuha Town Council, revealed that initial concerns arose when a child staying with Natukunda was found tied up and asleep in a bed, wrapped in bed-sheets.

“At first, we thought the child was the victim,” Nabasa said.

It was at this point that the Police deployed a sniffer dog, which led them to Natukunda’s body that was found with severe injuries, including cuts to her face, head, and chest, in a pool of blood.

Police thereafter took Natukunda’s body to Kampala International University (KIU) Ishaka for a postmortem examination. No arrests were yet made by press time although authorities are working to identify the perpetrator(s) so that they are brought to book.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents calling for swift justice.
