RUKUNGIRI- Richard Kariisa the commissioner for corporate services of Uganda Revenue Authority on Tuesday October 28th 2024 recognized and appreciated the most competent taxpayers in 2024 in Rukungiri District.

Kariisa rallied the public to join the noble effort of dully paying their taxes for the country to achieve economic independence. The annual awards are aimed at recognizing top consistent compliant taxpayers throughout the country.

He further said that as a body that regulates the country’s revenue, they understand that paying taxes is not always an easy task but acknowledged the sacrifices many of the businesses make to fulfil their responsibility.

URA is awarding distinguished taxpayers who have honoured their civic duty as a token of appreciation for their commitment to walk the journey of transforming Uganda’s economy.

Twesigamukama Peter, the regional Manager for URA south western region noted that taxes are important stressing that government’s reliance on loans isn’t healthy for the country’s growth.

Twesigamukama pointed out that over 20 taxpayers were selected for their continuous compliance in ensuring equitable tax payment that have enabled services to run.

Olive Nayebare the general manager of Buyanja Sacco hailed URA for the recognition of being a model institution in tax compliance and excellent accounting practices especially in good working relationship with URA.

Other representatives from recognized companies, including Sister Gladys Kachope, headteacher Immaculate Heart Girls and Namara Betty Mutabazi, managing Seremu International, Sena Grand Hotel, and Sena Supermarket, expressed gratitude to the Uganda Revenue Authority for their acknowledgment.

The Taxpayer Appreciation Season is an annual period that starts in September where URA recognizes, rewards and gives back to the public through Corporate Social Responsibility activities across the country.
