UPDATE: Bishop Stuart University lecturer in causing grievous harm case granted bail

NEWS– The Bishop Stuart lecturer in the scalding maid case has finally been granted bail.

Doreen Atongyirwe, a lecturer at the Mbarara City based Bishop Stuart University was on Wednesday 16th October 2024 granted bail at the Chief Magistrates Court in Mbarara.

The Chief Magistrates Court granted bail to Atwongyirwe who faces charges of causing grievous harm to her maid.

Atwongyirwe was granted a cash bail of UGX 1.5 million and her three sureties were also given a non-cash bond of UGX 10 million each.

Atongyirwe is faces charges of causing grievous harm to her maid Rachael Ninsiima accusing her of failing to bathe child in time.

The incident happened on 25th September 2024 when Atongyirwe allegedly poured boiling water on Ninsiima leaving her in deep pain.
