Two boda boda cyclists murdered, bodies dumped in bush

MASAKA-The Police in Masaka is investigating circumstances under which two boda boda riders were found dead.

The lifeless bodies of the deceased were discovered dumped in the bush at Kyabumba village, Buwunga Sub County in Masaka district.  

Daniel Kimbugwe, the Vice-Chairperson Buwunga Sub County revealed that the bodies were discovered by residents who had gone to collect firewood.

Kimbugwe identified one of the deceased as Huzaifah Mawanda, a Boda Boda rider who went missing two weeks ago and that the identities of the second rider are yet to be established.

According to Kimbugwe, the victims might have been killed by thugs who targeted their motorcycles adding that they found a hammer which he said could have been used to kill them.

Patrick Kefeero, a boda boda rider in Masaka town said that Mawanda was a member of their association and was operating from the Kyabakuza stage in Masaka town streesing that the deceased was identified by the clothes he wore on the day he went missing.

Muhammad Nsubuga, the Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson says their investigations team has embarked on the process of hunting for the killers and that he is optimistic that the hammer recovered at the scene could provide potential leads.  

Nsubuga has however cautioned boda boda riders against operating past night curfew hours the at he said disposes them to such attacks.

The Masaka sub-region is currently battling insecurity caused by machete-wielding assailants who have been terrorizing the area in the recent past where they have killed close to 30 people in just one month period.
