RUKUNGIRI- As 2026 general elections drew nearer, Angelo Twinomuhangi, a political mobilizer for ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Rukungiri district, decided to back Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi.
Twinomuhangi, who has been Frank Rukanirwa’s primary supporter and friend, as well as the chief mobilizer for former Rubabo MP Hon. Paula Turyahikayo, publicly announced to the press over the weekend that he has joined team Hon. Jim Muhwezi to ensure the district of Rukungiri continues with development.
Twinomuhangi declared that he had joined “Team Jim” after realizing that Hon. Jim Muhwezi has more ambitious goals to enhance people’s lives by bringing services closer to people.
According to what he has accomplished in his five years in office, Twinomuhangi disclosed that Minister Jim Muhwezi is capable of uniting and rebuilding Rukungiri district.
Twinomuhangi further stated that Hon. Jim Muhwezi is indispensable since he chose to join his camp and mobilize support for NRM during the general elections in 2026.
Rukungiri district residents were urged by Angello to cooperate and refrain from pointless disputes that would hinder the development of their own district.

According to Angello Twinomuhangi, there are those in the Rukungiri district who advocate for religious discrimination, which he finds objectionable and which compels him to back Hon. Jim, a man of all people.
He continued by noting that rather than people with their own agendas, Rukungiri needs people who can adhere to government policies that benefit the populace.
According to Twinomuhangi, an area inhabited by people who are constantly at odds with one another cannot grow, and if Minister Jim Muhwezi receives strong support, the problems affecting the Rukungiri district would be resolved.
