MUKONO– Security operatives in Mukono district have in detention six suspected bijambiya killers.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson revealed that the six were on Wednesday 15th September 2021 at around 2:30am arrested as they were seen travelling on a forward truck and armed with pangas, axes and spears.
Owoyesigyire revealed that the group which was travelling on a forward truck registration number UAX 664R was heading to a yet to be identified destination.
According to Owoyesigyire, the assailants are suspected to have been targeting Namawojjolo East village, Namawojjolo parish, Nama sub-county in Mukono district.
He stressed that no community member was attacked or injured by the gang as police responded swiftly.
This development comes at a time of heightened operations by security targeting gangs behind the anonymous threatening leaflets in various parts of the country.
In Gomba district, two people were arrested on Monday for dropping leaflets threatening to harm locals.
Police identified the arrested as Kosia Rwitare, 18 and Fred Mbaddina Mutabazi both residents of Nakaseta LC1, Kyayi parish in Gomba district and were accused for allegedly sending threatening messages to residents and demanding Ugx 100,000 from them.
