NEWS– The three former KCCA officials have been charged with manslaughter and 57 other counts.
The three who include the former executive director Dorothy Kisaka, ex-deputy director David Luyimbazi and ex-director health services Dr Daniel Okello were on Friday 18th October 2024 charged as they appeared before Chief Beatrice Kainza at Kasangati Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wakiso District.
The three were charged as they appeared in the dock over Kiteezi landfill collapse which left 35 people dead and many more displaced and homeless.
The embattled top officials were then remanded by the Chief Magistrate Beatrice Kainza to Luzira prison until 4th November 2024 when they will again appear in Court on if they can be granted bail or not.
Dorothy Kisaka, her ex deputy David Luyimbazi and ex director Health services at KCCA Dr. Daniel Okello were on Monday 14th October 2024 summoned by police and later detained on 16th before they were escorted to their homes for thorough check by the security operatives on 17th October 2024.
