In a heartwarming display of gratitude, the congregation of St. Paul Rwanyanja Parish in Bugangari Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, yesterday came together to raise funds to purchase a car for their parish priest, Reverend Richard Kwehangana.
This remarkable gesture was part of a thanksgiving event that attracted a large crowd of parishioners and clergy alike.
The Saturday fundraising event, held in Rukungiri District, saw contributions totaling 25 million shillings. Key figures in attendance included the Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral, archdeacons, and various lay leaders, all coming together to celebrate Reverend Kwehangana’s dedication to the parish.
Kwesiga Boaz Ruteera, the head of laity for Bugangari Archdeaconry, led the thanksgiving ceremony and emphasized the importance of recognizing good service early.
Minister Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the Member of Parliament for Rujumbura constituency, made a generous contribution of 5 million shillings towards the fundraising effort.
Venerable Rev Erasmus Barangirana the archdeacon of Bugangari Archdeaconry expressed his deep gratitude to Boaz Ruteera for his unwavering support and leadership. He urged the congregation to continue working diligently, referencing biblical teachings about reaping what one sows.
Christians also expressed their appreciation for Reverend Kwehangana’s tireless efforts, which include the completion of the Archdeaconry quarters and the initiation of coffee projects.
Musimire Fred and Juliet Turyayongyerwa particularly praised Boaz Rutera for facilitating church activities and ensuring that the parish remains active in spreading the word of God.
