HEALTH-The construction of a theatre at the Rukungiri Health Center (IV) Rwamahwa in the Eastern Division in Rukungiri Municipality was officially kicked off , by the Security Minister, Hon. Maj. General Jim Muhwezi.
According to Hon Maj. Gen Jim Muhwezi ,the construction will be carried out by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering brigade, and is expected to cost the Ugx. 600 million from the government of Uganda under ministry of health and will take six months to complete.
Minister Muhwezi urged people to support and embrace the NRM government’s initiatives in order to develop personally and socially.
The Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, lauded the Ministry of Health for funding the theatre’s construction as well as the maternity ward, which will also be built by the UPDF Engineering brigade after the theater is finished.
The construction of the theatre according to Hon. Rutahigwa, is an evidence that he is keeping his promises made during the general elections of 2021 promising for more because he is prepared to grow and transform his constituency.
Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata the area Woman Member of Parliament, appreciated government for funding the theatre and maternity ward at Rwamahwa Health Center IV, noting that this will lower the death rate of women and children dying during childbirth and the rate of referral.
The UPDF officer who headed the construction crew, Major Mawanda Francis, highlighted that they are focusing on quality work and value for money and requested assistance from the people to help them produce easy and excellent work.
The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen, the Deputy RDC Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, the Rukungiri district chairperson LC5 Kyomukama Geofrey, as well as other invited visitors, blessed the event.
