The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Stephen Bewayo Nsubuga this week declined to commission a newly constructed three-classroom block at Rugarama Primary School in Buyanja Sub County.

The decision stemmed from concerns over the quality of the construction, particularly the cracked floors that were deemed substandard.

Nsubuga emphasized his commitment to ensuring that all government projects meet established standards, reiterating his previous refusal to commission classroom blocks at Kihanga Primary School for similar reasons. He warned contractors to prioritize quality in their work.

The Rugarama Primary School head teacher, Muhwezi Samson, highlighted the positive impact of the new classroom blocks on pupils’ enrollment, which has surged from 196 to 274 students since the construction began. Despite this growth, the head teacher pointed out ongoing challenges, including a shortage of teaching staff, inadequate teacher accommodations, and a lack of girls’ toilets.

The Rukungiri district Minister of Works, marketing and production Byarugaba Michael who represented the chairperson expressed his great gratitude to the RDC Rukungiri district for the great job done in the district.

Byarugaba explained that RDC sticks at truth stressing that he is a corruption unless otherwise any person would commission it as a complete work.
