Rukungiri district is among the districts that will receive milk processing plant.
This was revealed today by the executive director Naads Dr Samuel Mugasi while speaking to our reporter in an interview as he was in Bushenyi district to launch a milk processing plant.
Dr Mugasi revealed that in order to promote value addition in the dairy industry, government has embarked on distribution of milk processing and cooling plants to save farmers from making loses as the equipment will process and preserve excess milk.
He noted that Rukungiri district will also benefit in this process.

Dr Mugasi appealed to farmers to embrace zero grazing to reduce on the risk of ticks noting that NAARO researchers are working hard to ensure ticks are no longer a problem with the current cattle vaccination process .

The mini milk processing plants have been constructed by the National Agricultural Advisory- NAADS at a cost of three billion shillings.
The ongoing commissioning of the plants has started with districts comprising of Kiboga, Bushenyi,Kiruhura,kazo and kabale and after Rukungiri will also benefit.
The project jointly facilitated by the Dairy development Authority is meant to add value to milk products through processing and ensure quality milk that is supplied to the public .
