Rukungiri district Deputy RDC Wilberforce Ongom has strongly cautioned people who have continued to destroy wetlands to stop since the presidential directive was clear that any person found in the act he or she shall be put under courts of law.
He said this yesterday 25thOctober2023 in the budget consultative meeting at Rukungiri municipal council hall as the municipal council presented their budget for financial year 2024/2025.
The Rukungiri municipal council revealed they had budgeted for the money to support in protection of wetlands in the budget financial year 2024/2025.
Ongom called upon the parish chiefs, GISO, sub county chiefs, CAO, town clerk and RDC to perform their duty as expected by the public and the government.
Principle treasurer Rukungiri district Mugisha Amos highlighted and showed that in local revenue they expected to collect 929,987,781 in financial year 2023/2024 and so far, they have collected 200,617,844.
He further revealed that Rukungiri district is planning to collect 976,487,170 in financial year 2024/2025 as local revenue.
Mugisha Amos also said Rukungiri district expects the expenditure of 12,834,195,764 and so far, they have spent 2,869,226,41.Amos said that they are planning to spend 13,133,752,764 in financial year 2024/2025.
Katabazi Alfred Mutuza municipal education officer said that in their organization they have managed to pay well salaries to all their workers.
He said that Rukungiri district have managed to receive ten millions from ministry of education and sports due to the fact that Rukungiri has a school which reached at the national level.
Katabazi also said Rukungiri district is targeting 397teachers paid in the financial year 2024/2025
Robert Nuwamanya town clerk Rukungiri municipality said that the budget shall be submitted on 15th/11/2023 to the ministry of finance.
