Rukungiri boda boda cyclist killed by unknown assailants

Police in Rukungiri have arrested four suspects in connection to the murder of a 43 years old man.

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Martin Tindimweba, a motor cyclist and a resident of Rugyendwa village Kyamakanda parish Buyanja sub county Rukungiri district.

Maate said that Tindimwebwa now the deceased was last seen at Rugyendwa pub yesterday 19th Sept 2022 at around 8:00pm.

Maate told the press that today 20th Sept. 2022 at around 07:00am,  school going children identified his body in a stream along Omukikazi to Omukayaga trading centre about 150-meters to his home, with his motorcycle registration number UEB 828Y Bajaj boxer red in color.

They notified the elder brother one Moses Niwamanya Itareba who instead of reporting to Police tampered with the scene by removing the body to the home (deceased) for yet unknown motive.

The incident leaked to the area chairperson one Ntwiga Deo who reported an incident of death by drowning at Buyanja police station and Cps Rukungiri was accordingly informed for further management.

The scene of crime was visited and documented by the DCID/O, and team which established the reported incident to be murder.

 The motorcycle, helmet, two phones and clothes were picked from the scene (stream); body was picked from the home and taken to Rwakabengo health center III for Postmortem to ascertain the actual cause of the death.

Maate said that four suspect have been arrested and he identified them as Niwamanya Moses Itareba who ordered for the removal of the body from the scene and alleged to have had a land conflict suspected to be the reason for the murder, Niwamanya Fred 28 years, Manyumba Denis 40 years and,

Niwagaba Martin 30 years, the ones Moses used remove the body from the scene.
