RUKUNGIRI– Athletes of the young generation have been urged to stay focused, keep disciplined, work together if they are to succeed in their sports journey.
Steven Nsubuga Bewayo the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner made this call yesterday at the district headquarters as he flagged off the Primary level athletes team for the National championship games due to be played in Kabale district.
Nsubuga who thanked the Rukungiri district sports department for the work well done called for team work among the team officials and athletes, spirited fight for victory as they represent the district’s image in the competition.

Solomon Arinaitwe the inspector of schools in charge of sports and the team leader thanked the Rukungiri district administration for the support and pledged to compete to the highest level. The flagged off 24 sports boys and girls team is comprised of both under 12 and under 14 athletes with 3 team officials.
The flagged off team will report to Kabale district tomorrow for the 10 day national Kids athletics competitions hosted by Kigezi high School Lower Primary school.
Some of the athletes, Annitah Ainembabazi from Rutooma Kihanga Primary school, Ndyamuhaki Mackline from Nyanganjara Primary school and Donozio Akatwijuka from Buhunga Primary school expressed gratitude for being chosen to represent the district and promised to work hard so as they emerge the winners of the competition.
