Police in Rukiga registered a Fatal road accident that claimed the life of a two and half years old.
The deceased has been identified as Brandet Owomugisha son of Joshua Arinitwe of Kabaare cell Bubare ward Muhanga town council Rukiga district.
The incident involved Motor vehicle registration UBJ 966U Toyota hiace drone white in colour being driven by Tumusiime Alex 40 yrs Munyankore of cell No.2 eastern ward Ntungamo municipality Ntungamo District.
According to Elly Maate Kigezi region police spokesperson ,It’s alleged that the deceased together with his other brother one Ampulira Elijah were coming from the home of their grand parents just across the road,as they attempted to cross the road, the deceased ran leaving the brother behind thereby meeting an oncoming vehicle which was from Kabale heading to Ntungamo side which knocked him dead on spot.
Police report attributes the accident to careless pedestrian, noting that at his age he should have been under the guidance of the parents according to the highway code.
Police was notified, scene was visited by DTO Rukiga and team, processed, body removed from the scene and examined, currently the driver is detained and vehicle has been parked at Muhanga police station pending iov inspection.as inquiries continue.
