RUKUNGIRI- Road users have been advised to desist from drug abuse and alcoholism in order to prevent the increasing number of road accidents. The call was made at the send-off ceremony for Late Nabasa Nickson in Rwabigangura cell, Kebisoni town council by Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district boss.

Nabasa, a 26-year-old nephew to the Ministry of Security employee Kutesa Edwin Kaziriri, passed away from injuries he sustained in a hit-and-run accident that happened on Friday last week.

During his send-off ceremony, Kyomukama revealed that a common cause of accidents is drunk drivers endangering the lives of other people, including passengers and pedestrians calling for an end to stop such incidents.

Kyomukama continued by recommending the populace to have social capital, such as by joining groups that promote development and can support them in the event of an emergency, as opposed to selling land for rescue.

Edwin Kutesa Kaziriri exhorted people to love one another when still living stressing that the deceased was a very disciplined, diligent, and kind person.

Kutesa pointed out that they have lost a young person who could support the family and the nation in future.
