RICH takes step in changing lives of street kids

RUKUNGIRI. The dream of changing the lives of street kids in Rukungiri Municipality by the area based Non Governmental Organisation Rukungiri Integrated Community Based Health promoters ‘RICH’ has started yielding fruits of success.


RICH with support from Foundation for Community Development FCDE have already made a big and determinant step in changing the lives of some street kids in the town.


Benjamin Kwikiriza alias Brother Ben, the RICH Executive Director who revealed that they have already secured jobs for some street kids stressed that they are focused and determined to change lives of all street kids.


Arikiriza  Ronald commonly known to many as Kid, one of the job beneficiaries heaped praises on Brother Ben and the whole organisation for their tireless efforts aimed at helping him change to a positive way of living.


A 17 year old Ronald who hails from Nyakasoro village in Bitereko subcounty in Mitooma district has spent the of his last four years in street life in Rukungiri Municipality.


Arikiriza who is of now a double orphan narrated to our reporter that joined street life after an alarming continuous harrasment by his step mother after his mother’s demise.
Arikiriza revealed how miserable street life treated him as it was only characterised by forced drug abuse, lack of food, lack of proper shelter, mistreatment by his fellows among many others. 


Arikiriza who is now enjoying his new life at his new job  applauded Mrs. Dinnah Kyomukama his employer for the good heart stressing that he found a second mother in her.
Arikiriza a former drug addict appreciated the advice from Ben and Kyomukama which he said has helped him much and
appealed to his colleagues who are still in the street life to be disciplined and pray to God for their chances are knocking.


Mrs. Dinnah Kyomukama described Ronald as a well behaved who is dedicated to performing his roles in time.
Kyomukama called upon other parents to take heart and help such needy people as it is a beginning of God’s blessings.
