President Museveni urges religious leaders to spearhead wealth creation campaigns

Western Uganda Bishops at North Kigezi Diocese

RUKUNGIRI- The President of the republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has asked religious leaders in the Western region to spearhead campaigns against poverty by mobilizing Christians to embrace government development projects.

 President Museveni believes religious leaders take on development leadership, it could improve lives of Christians as opposed to only preaching the gospel.

The president’s message was contained in a speech read on his behalf by the security at the closure of 4 day western region bishop’s fellowship which took place at North Kigezi diocese headquarters in Western division Rukungiri municipality in Rukungiri district.

 President Museveni said religious leaders should not only dwell on the spiritual being of their people but also mobilize the masses to take up different projects to enhance their incomes.

He commended the religious institutions for fostering morals and urged them to continue the fight against corruption pledging continuous support to the religious institutions towards development.

Preaching at this event, the Bishop of East Rwenzori diocese Rt Rev. George Turyasingura asked Christians to desist from bad habits of drinking alcohol like drinking water saying that this vice has greatly hindered development of this country.

He also asked them to shun womanization and abusive usage of technology saying that it has contributed a lot towards moral decay in this country Uganda.

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe of North Kigezi diocese hailed the president of the republic of Uganda H.E YK Museveni for his continued support towards the development of the church.

Museveni contributed Ugx 50 million cash to help the diocese in paying dates that were brought by this bishop’s fellowship.
