NEWS- The president of the Republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pardoned two convict prisoners who were convicted for causing financial loss.
The president has pardoned John Muhanguzi Kashaka and granted a posthumous pardon to Henry Bamutura.
In a letter dated 3rd October 2024 signed by the assistant PRO commissioner of prisons Moses Ssentalo, the two have been pardoned by the president in accordance with article 121(1) (a) of yhe 1995 constitution of the Republic of Uganda as amended.
The two convicts were both convicted in 2014 by the Anti corruption division of the High Court for the offence of causing for causing financial loss.
The two were on 17th July 2014 sentenced to a term of 10 years and 10 days and their Earliest Possible Date of Discharge was 17th April 2021 subjected to remission.
Bamutura served 8 months and 19 days before being granted bail in 2020, while Kashaka has been released after serving 5 years, 2 months, and 9 days with compensation awarded.
