RUKUNGIRI- In a significant effort to combat computer illiteracy in local schools, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has fulfilled his 40 full sets of computers pledge to Bwambara Secondary School in Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri district.

The computers were yesterday officially handed over to Bwambara Secondary School administration for use by the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament who’s also the Security Minister Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim K Muhwezi Katugugu.

This initiative comes as schools adapt to the new lower secondary curriculum, which emphasizes hands-on skills and the incorporation of ICT training.  Speaking during the handover ceremony, Jim Muhwezi highlighted government’s commitment towards advancing education in Uganda.

He urged students to embrace values that will lead to success in life, which include discipline, integrity and strategic positioning, which can facilitate breakthroughs in their careers.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni pledged these computers in 2018, but they didn’t receive them because no one followed up on the issue.  However, Jim Muhwezi followed up on the issue until it was resolved after winning the general election in 2021, according to Christopher Kagayano, the chairperson of LC3 for Bwambara Sub County.
