NEWS– The local leaders in Busoga region have been commended for their cooperation with police which has led to improved security in the region.
The message was delivered by SSP Frantile Lwamusayi, the Busoga North regional police commander after successful community policing engagements with local leaders and members of the public in Kamuli, Kaliro, Buyende and Luuka districts in November and part of December this year.
SSP Lwamusayi commended the leaders in the region for their unwavering support to police, especially during the festive season.
The community engagements and sensitization exercises were held at various Sub-county headquarters and villages with the help of LC III , Councillors, LC II and LC I chairpersons.
According to ASP Kasadha Micheal, the Busoga North Regional spokesperson noted that the police had close interactions with leaders and members of the public on collaboration in crime prevention ahead of the festive season.
During the meetings, the senior Police officers including the deputy RPC as team leader, CLO, PRO, CFPU, DPCs, OC CIDs among others emphasized pro-people collaboration, police duties, child protection and the need for inclusive participation in crime prevention.
He noted that this free interaction has yielded reduction in crime and promoted people centred policing. This has made policing easy during the festive season.
The Police commander called upon the members of the public to remain vigilant during this period and implores them to report suspicious people in the community.
He also called upon all road users to ensure safety on the roads reiterating the Force’s commitment to ensuring safety during and after the festive season.
