NEWS– The police in Uganda are holding in their custody seven people in connection to the theft on Lake Victoria.
Rusoke Kituuma the police spokesperson identified the arrested suspects as Nkolo Katende 48, Lugolobi David 46, Sanday Frank 30, Maison John 30, Balikudembe Godfrey 42, Bwabye Kizito 46, and Kirunda Siraje 23.
According to Kituuma, the seven were on 26th December 2024 arrested by the Uganda Police Marine unit on Lake Victoria.
The police spokesperson noted that the operation aided by maritime intelligence, led to the recovery of stolen items including 02 Yamaha outboard engines worth 14 million Uganda shillings and fishing nets.
He revealed that this breakthrough is part of ongoing efforts to combat maritime crime in on the lakes of Uganda.
