KAMPALA- Deputy Speaker Tayebwa had led Parliament in paying tribute to former Olympics athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei, who died in Kenya following an arson attack orchestrated by her former boyfriend, Dickson Ndiema, describing her attack as unfortunate and called for critical solutions to end domestic violence in Uganda.
Tayebwa made the remarks in his communication to parliament. Tayebwa has also thanked legislators for standing together when Parliament lost former minister of state for defense or Kisoro district woman mp Sarah Mateke.

The Pakwach DWR, Jane Pacuto has asked the leadership at Parliament to organize mandatory medical checkups for MPs, and have doctors come to Parliament to check on MPs, even when Legislators have medical insurance and a clinic inside Parliament building.

Kasilo county mp Elijah Okupa wondered why some MPs heckled MP Pacuto when she demanded for special treatment to be accorded to MPs health, arguing that back in the day, there was a team of medical workers that camped at Parliament to carry out medical tests on MPs whenever they entered or left the period, thus called for the practice to be revived.

Deputy Speaker Tayebwa however reminded MPs that Parliament has a Clinic within its premises that MPs can just walk into and carry out these simple medical checkups.
