NEWS-Crown Beverages Limited (CBL), the maker of soft drinks; Pepsi, Mirinda, Mountain Dew, Sting, Evervess and Nivana water has donated a CT Scan machine to St. Francis Mutolere Hospital in Kisoro district.
The donation of the the SOMATOM go. Now. (161118) was made during an event held at the hospital grounds.
Speaking during the handover Ceremony, the CBL Board Chairman Dr. Amos Nzeyi said that CBL has over the years been involved in a number of health- related CRS initiatives and with particular involvement and support that has been targeted to health facilities located in hard-to-reach areas in Uganda.
In his remarks, the medical Director of St. Francis Mutolere, Dr. Mugisha Jerome was overwhelmed by the donation to hospital and community, expressed the hospital’s appreciation to Crown Beverages Limited for their huge contribution, citing the importance of state-of-the-art equipment that is relevant for the times and the prevalence of the disease if we are put to a good fight.
Dr. Mugisha observed that the availability of this machine will enable Mutolere hospital carry out frequent and routine checks for cancer prevention early detection within the community which will enable us to start early treatment and ensure better patience experience.
In his address the CBL CEO, Mr. Paddy Muramiirah commented on the company’s continued interest and investment in corporate Social Investment Initiatives. He said that, the initiative is going to help minimize costs related to travel and accommodation for patients and their families by leveraging some of the CT scan latest technology to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.
He revealed that the CT scan and it its installation has cost Crown Beverages and Pacific diagnostics over 1.5 billion shillings.
Dr. Shiraj Pacific of Diagnostics who supplied the CT scan assured the Public of the quality of the machine. She said that Mutolere hospital experts will be working with experts from their company for better services.
She said that in her career as a doctor and an entrepreneur, it is her first time to witness an individual company donate a machine of such a caliber.
Apart from the machine, Crown Beverages Limited helped in the construction of the structure to house the machine.
The Kisoro district Chairman Abel Bizimana appreciated the Crown Beverages and Amos Nzeyi in particular for remembering the People of Kisoro.
The Kisoro district RDC retired Captain Peter Mugisha asked Mutolere Hospital management to ensure proper machine management for it to properly serve Ugandans.
