MP Rutahigwa gifts his electorates of Kigaga, with road worth 29M

NEWS-The Rukungiri Municipality area Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa yesterday Sunday 20th February 2022 flagged off the renovation of Kakonkoma-Nshure road in a bid to facilitate easy movement and transportation of goods and services in the area.

Hon. Rutahigwa felt touched after learning that his electorate from Kigaga ward in Southern Division would move for over three kilometers to Nyamayenje market and other surrounding areas the distance that could be reduced by Kakonkoma-Nshure road which they say is cost effective.

Dr Rutahigwa added that this forced him to come on ground to speak with the residents who offered their land for a good road.

Since the government has a parish Development Model program that is going to start very soon, Rutahigwa revealed that the road will ease transportation of products to market centers hence increasing household income.

Asked to explain the state of roads in Rukungiri in the capacity of District roads committee chairperson, Dr. Rutahigwa revealed that the roads are wanting due to limited funds since the outbreak of global pandemic of Covid-19 but promised that government will release enough money as the situation stabilizes.

Rutahigwa however called upon people to always renovate their feeder roads which are in poor state “BURUNGYI BWANSI” as they wait for the government to intervene.

Baryajunwa Abraham, the councilor representing Kigaga ward in Rukungiri municipal council said that they have been facing hard times trying to transport their goods to market centers and thanked Dr Rutahigwa for thinking about them.

Musasizi Stephen the chairperson of Rwobo village told our reporters that they had spent over twenty years demanding for the renovation of the road from leaders but all has been in vain until the current Legislator came to their rescue.

Twine Tom and Patrick Betegyekire, some of the residents thanked Hon. Rutahigwa for fulfilling his pledge calling for the same spirit in case of any other need.

Kakonkoma-Nshure road which will mostly help residents of Rwoobo, Katungu, and Nshure villages is a one kilometer road and according to Hon. Rutahigwa, it will cost Ugx 29million.
