RUKUNGIRI- Christians have been called to champion the fight against gender based violence within their families as days draw near to the festive season.
The call was made by the Rukungiri District Deputy Resident Commissioner (DRDC), Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom while representing the Security Minister and Rujumbura County legislator Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu.
Muhwezi who was the chief guest during the fundraising towards the completion Rwemirongo Revival mission church found in Bugangari Sub County.
Ongom told believers that gender based violence cases tend to sky rocket towards festivities emanating from failure by the married couples to agree on expenditure especially clothes and meat. The DRDC hence asked them to get contented with whatever that will be available, since these festivities are not the end of the world.

During the same service, Ongom advised believers of Rwemirongo to support hands on leaders like Hon. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi in the 2026 general elections for continuity of development. Minister Jim Muhwezi contributed 50 bags of cement towards the construction of Rwemirongo church.
Bishop Grace Micheal Okello, the leader of all revival mission churches in Rukungiri hailed the minister for the big push rendered to them in this construction that will ease the spread of God’s word.
