RUKUNGIRI– Hon. Maj. Gen Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, the Minister for security and Rujumbura County MP has praised President Yoweri Museveni’s pioneering efforts in empowering women and the girl-child in the various government sectors by giving them opportunities to flourish.
Minister Jim Muhwezi made the revelation on Saturday, May 10th 2025 during the belated Women’s Day celebrations at Bugangari Playgrounds in Rukungiri district.
Speaking as the chief guest during the function, Hon. Jim Muhwezi said that President Museveni is being recommended for pioneering affirmative action for women in Uganda’s politics.
Minister Jim Muhwezi urged residents of Rukungiri and the Country at large to use the prevailing peace and create wealth and chase poverty out of their homes.

Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata thanked President Museveni for empowering them as women and they have managed to care and sustain their families.

Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipality MP who also graced the function said that the NRM government under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has changed the lifestyles of Women hence contributing towards the development of the country.
