Man impersonating Commissioner of Police arrested trying to defraud money from DPC

NEWS– The police at Naggalama Police station have in detention one person for impersonating Commissioner of Police.

Rusoke Kituuma the police spokesperson identified the detained as Kassim Byaruhanga.

According to Kituuma, police arrested Byaruhanga on 7th December 2024 for impersonating as a Commissioner of Police and at same time as an intelligence officer of the army.

It is said that on the 24th day of July 2024 the DPC Naggalama police division received a phone call from a person claiming to be a Commissioner of Police by the name Tumusiime and who told her that there was an auctioning exercise of motor vehicles at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)

The following day, the purported commissioner ( Byaruhanga) asked the DPC to send eight hundred thousand shillings (Ugx 800,000/=) to a telephone number he claimed was for URA.
