NEWS– The territorial police in Rubanda are hunting for suspects who allegedly severely cut and injured D/Cpl Saturday Sebastian 38, the scenes of crime officer of Rubanda district, as they intended to Rob the motorcycle he was riding.
This nasty incident occurred according to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman happened on 10th May 2025 at around 2am at Ihanga Trading Centre, Ihanga Parish, Bubaare Sub County, in Rubanda District.
It’s alleged that, on the fateful night, while he was riding motorcycle Reg no UFZ316X, from Kabale Town heading back to Rubanda CPs at Ihanga Trading Centre, he was intercepted by two motorcycle riders each carrying a passenger (four men) armed with pangas who demanded the victim to surrender his motorcycle.
That, he resisted and branched to the nearby home from where the thugs followed and cut him on the head, arms and shoulder. Maate told the press that when the home occupants intervened, the thugs jumped onto their motorcycles and fled the scene leaving the victim seriously injured.
Maate added that it’s at that point when he was then rushed to Rugarama Hospital by a group of Good Samaritans and admitted there, for medical attention.
The scene was visited by a team of Police officers from Rubanda CPS, and documented accordingly.
“Anyone with information that can lead the police to establish the perpetrators, should volunteer it so that they are brought to book and answer charges accordingly” said Maate.
In another development, the territorial police in Kabale have registered a sudden death incident of a male adult only known as Rasta, who suddenly died in the night of 13/05/2025 at Kigongi “A” cell, Kigongi ward, central division Kabale Municipality.
It’s alleged that on Wednesday morning 14th May 2025, Asiimwe Ashim received information from Yiga Hussein that one Rasta whom he was residing with had died from inside the house while on bed sleeping.
Asiimwe opted to going there by himself and indeed found the body of Rasta on the bed and the deceased had first vomited before dying. They suspect that Rasta died because of over boozing without eating. He reported the matter to police for the necessary help.
Upon receiving the information, a case file of sudden death was opened, the scene was visited and documented, his body was retrieved from the scene and taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for examination.
Maate told the press that investigations are ongoing to establish the rightful cause of death adding that anyone who could be linked to the deceased should come out and give his full particulars and take the body for a decent burial.
