RUKUNGIRI- Christians have been encouraged to support development of their churches for financial independence.
The call was made by the Rukungiri municipality MP hopeful Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde who was the chief guest at the choir fundraising ceremony held Rujumbura Archdeaconry’s All saints church in North Kigezi diocese found in Southern division Rukungiri Municipality.
Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde who contributed Ugx 5M to the church, Ugx 1M to the choir also bought items worth Ugx 2M to the elderly bringing the total to Ugx 8M and urged the congregation to embrace developmental ideas if they are to enhance the growth of their institutions to a better financial status.
Gen. Tumukunde expressed his gratitude to the All saints choir for the good work done and pledged his full commitment to empowering them through different activities.
Reading from 1 Samuel 16:13, in his sermon Ven. Dickens Kakanyisa the Archdeacon Rujumbura Archdeaconry called up on Christians to embrace praise and worship as well as praying to God with all their bodies, hearts and souls saying that worshiping with reverence invites the ministry of the holy Spirit to administer over the lives of Christians.
The fundraising held under the theme “God’s redeem reveal his goodness” aimed at raising funds to start up an over Ugx 43M recording studio project that will see the choir members record their gospel songs and also establish and develop young talents in the community.
In a related development, Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde bought a goat at Ugx 2M, bought 74 crates of soda for the school children and also pledged 200 bags of cement and Ugx 2M to Kahororo Primary school.
This was at their fundraising aiming at constructing staff quarters in a lavish ceremony held at Kahororo C.O.U in Kahororo, Karangaro ward, Western Division in Rukungiri Municipality.
