A 75 years old woman and her 30 years old son were killed by lightening last evening.
The two members of the same family are Tukwasibwe Enoth and Jolly Baryakabuza all peasants and residents of Keita Village in Nyabitete Parish, Bugangari Subcounty, Rukungiri district . the two died instantly.
Elly Maate kigezi regional police spokesperson confirmed the incident to reporters noting that it occurred on Wednesday15/03/2023 at around 05:00 pm at their home during heavy down pour when the old woman was in the kitchen preparing supper and the son was in the main house with the father who was not affected.
Police was alerted by the area chairperson Mr Warugaba and scene was visited by Community liaison officer Aip Mugisha who addressed the mourners and consoled them of the unfortunate incident.
