Kikuube resident shot dead in NFA operation on charcoal

KIKUUBE- The Police in Kikuube district are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Rwenkobe village, Kaseeta parish in Kabwooya Sub County resulting in the killing of a 50 year old man. The deceased is Ronald Munyanzonza.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police mouthpiece expressed that on 23rd March 2025 at around 12:30pm one Ronald Munyanzonza aged 50 years was shot dead while his son Bosco Twikunda aged 23 years was shot on the leg by the enforcement team from National Forestry Authority (NFA).

Hakiza explained that the incident allegedly began when a team from NFA found five sacks of charcoal in the deceased’s house and when the team ordered him to load the charcoal on the vehicle saying the trees used are from Bugoma forest.

Hakiza says when the deceased refused, the team from NFA had to fire bullets that killed Munyanzoza on spot and his son injured on the leg. The victim is currently receiving treatment at Kyangwali health center IV.

Hakiza says the suspects are still at large after the angry mob burnt their motorcycle and efforts are on to arrest the suspects since they are members of the forces.
