NEWS– The territorial police in Kabale have conveyed a dead body of an unidentified male adult of approximately 65 years old to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary where it can be identified from and taken for a decent burial.
It is alleged that on the 19th October 2024 at around 7:45 am at Ihinoni village Kyanamira sub county Kabale district while Byamugisha Daniel was looking after animals in the farm of Rtd Bishop Rukirande, he came across a floating dead body in river Rwabakazi.
According to the Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate, the incident forced Byamugisha to immediately call the residents to witness and later called the area OC Kyanamira who joined the residents and cross checked the victim /deceased with a view to still identify it but in vain.
Maate noted that’s when the OC Kyanamira called the OC station Kabale Police station who also alerted the District CID Officer and the scene was visited, processed and documented before the body was retrieved and taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
He noted that the body had no injuries,
was putting on a pair of trousers and dressed in a T-shirt bearing a logo of Makerere university law society.
ASP Maate requested anyone missing the dear one to visit the hospital mortuary so that it is identified and taken for a decent burial.
The case on death by drowning has been recorded at Kabale Central Police station vide registration number CRB 789/2024 as efforts to identify the body continue
