kabale municipality commercial officer Federisi Akankwasa has been arrested from his hideout allegedly for obtaining money by false pretence and issuing a bouncing cheque of forty nine million Uganda shillings, (49m ugx), which he issued to Leo Mbabazi a resident of Kigongi B” cell Central ward/ division Kabale municipality in Kabale district.
According to Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate ,It’s alleged that the suspect sold an estate in Kakoba Mbarara city to the complaint in December, 2022, which they had agreed at 550m and he deposited 100m to him, but eventually resold it to another person and told him that he was no longer selling.
And instead of paying back the complainant his 100m he had deposited, instead paid back 50,250,000= remaining with a balance of 49m which he gave a bank cheque which bounced in February 2023.
The case was reported at Kabale on the 13/03/2023, but the suspect went in hiding until he was arrested yesterday from within Kabale and now in detention.
Upon completion of inquiries, will be produced before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
