Health Ministry earmarks over 8,000 Covid19 vaccine doses for Kampala residents

KISORO-The Ministry of health in Uganda has set aside over 8,000 doses of covid 19 vaccines for the residents of Kampala Metropolitan area. 

This was disclosed by Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the health ministry spokesperson. 

According to Ainebyoona, the residents within the Kampala Metropolitan area will access COVID-19 vaccines in selected vaccination sites including Mulago hospital and KCCA health facilities spread across the five divisions of Kampala. 

Ainebyoona revealed that Uganda has so far received a total of 2,153,140 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 300,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine and 647,080 of Moderna to support the mass COVID-19 vaccination exercise. 

So far, a total of 1,622,367 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the most risky population groups which include, teachers, security personnel, health workers, persons aged 50 and above, and those aged between 18 and 50 years with underlying health complications.
