Gov’t tables Ugx 71.9 trillion budget for FY 2025/26

KAMPALA- The minister of state for finance Henry Musasizi has tabled before parliament the proposed annual budget for the next financial year worth 71.9 trillion shillings.

Musasizi says this year’s budget is themed “full monetization of the Ugandan economy through commercial agriculture, industrialization, expanding and broadening services, digital transformation and market access”.

The Minister adds that the budget will be focused on growing the economy through agro industrialization, tourism development, mineral based industrial development and science, technology, innovation including ICT and creative art industry.

Musasizi says that these areas will be enabled by maintaining peace, security and rule of law, human capital development including health, education, water and social protection, regional integration, irrigation, manufacturing, eliminating corruption, infrastructure development and environment.

He pointed out that they have addressed critical policy commitments mainly in domestic arrears, agriculture, health Education including AFCON 2027, electoral commission and general elections road map, wage shortfalls in local governments.

The Deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa who chaired today’s session sent the estimates to the budget committee and relevant sectoral committees for further discussion.
