RUKUNGIRI- In an exciting turn of events, renowned Ugandan musician Dr. Jose Chameleon is set to grace the final of Mathias Rwabugumi Boda Boda Football Tournament in Rukungiri, just days after returning from the United States where he has been receiving medical attention from late last year.
The popular artist, known for his vibrant music and energetic performances, made headlines late last year when he traveled abroad for a medical check-up. Fans expressed relief upon hearing that he is recovering well and his return over the weekend as well as his readiness to return to the stage.
The Rwabugumi Mathias Boda Boda Football Tournament, which has been ongoing across all the sub counties and Town Councils of Rubabo County in Rukungiri District, celebrates local talent and community spirit, promises to be electrifying this year, especially with Chameleon’s participation.
His performance is highly anticipated, as he is expected to deliver some of his classic hits, energizing the crowd with his signature style.
Mathias Rwabugumi, the current Nyarushanje Sub County District Councilor and Rukungiri District Secretary for Health, who’s eyeing the Rubabo County Members of Parliament hopeful emphasizes that the event aims to bring the community together, promoting sports and entertainment in a festive atmosphere.
The tournament final will take place this Friday which also happens to be this year’s good Friday, and attendees are encouraged to come out and support their teams while enjoying the entire day of music and celebration.

ABOUT RWABUGUMI BODA BODA FOOTBALL CUP
Launched on 4th February 2025, the highly anticipated Football Tournament for Rubabo County in Nyakishenyi Sub County Rukungiri district included distribution of footballs and uniforms to representatives from all sub county parishes and town council wards in the entire Rubabo County.
Speaking during the launch, Hon. Mwesigwa Mathious said that the tournament which will start from Sub County and then to constituency level aims to foster unity, promote development, and identify talent among boda boda riders within Rubabo County in Rukungiri district.
According to Rwabugumi, the tournament’s goals go beyond football and include fostering talent, bridging gaps between communities, and promoting discipline and teamwork among boda boda riders.
Winners at the parish level went home with Ugx. 500,000 each at the Sub County level, while the winning Sub County at the constituency level will receive 2 million shillings, second 1.5 million, and all other participating teams will receive 500,000 shillings.
