KAMPALA- The Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs has reported substantial progress in addressing insecurity in Karamoja, Sebei, Teso, Acholi, and Lango sub-regions.

While presenting a progress report on Manifesto implementation, he said some of the Key achievements include,

Reduction in illegal firearms and cross-border incursions: Enhanced collaboration between Uganda’s Joint Security Forces and the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has helped curb activities by Turkana and Pokot communities from Kenya.

Successful disarmament operations, Since July 13, 2021, security forces have recovered 1,279 firearms, 11,142 rounds of ammunition and 55,931 livestock including cattle, goats, sheep, camels, and donkeys, which were returned to their rightful owners.

Improved regional security and livelihoods, reduction in cattle raids and illegal firearm circulation, increased access to social services, enhanced community participation in development initiatives.
