RUKUNGIRI- Retired Rev. Canon Nathan Mugisha Kirebete, the Bishop’s Commissary of North Kigezi has urged Christian families to respect and be patient to one another and live peaceful lives of humanity and hospitality.
Rev Canon Kirebete said this while preaching at Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi C.O.U Parish as Christians were receiving their gifts in accordance to how they gave offerings in the Christmas festive season.
As a parish, Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi C.O.U Parish held competitions amongst its Christians with the goal of finishing the Diocesan quotas and raising funds for developing their church.
Canon Kirebete acknowledged Christians for their dedication to the church adding that their church is amongst the churches that are respected in the Diocese for finishing the Diocesan quotas in time. He added that the increase of domestic violence in families is as a result of lack of cooperation as families as well as impatience.
Justus Kamuhamye, the head of Laity of Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi C.O.U Parish acknowledged the Christians’ support to their church adding that it has led to the completion of Diocesan quotas as well as starting developmental projects of the church.
He also lauded their Priest, Rev Saison Gumisiriza for the new initiatives he has ventured in their church including giving gifts to the Christians who gave top offerings to the church.
Rev. Saison Gumisiriza, the parish priest of Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi C.O.U Parish revealed that on the next Sunday of 26th January, they are planning to also reward the elderly, from the age of 70 years and on.
Rev Saison said that they are meant to reward them for the tremendous work they have done for their church for all those years.
Best performers in that Christmas festive season were awarded with household items and bibles as a token of appreciation for their dedication towards their church.
